Day 1. Arrive Darwin Darwin, the tropical capital of the top end will surprise you. Its modern metropolis is bustling with decadent eateries, recreational lagoons and captivating museums, while still maintaining its cultural connection with its traditional owners, the Larrakia people. This evening at 6pm, we meet our fellow travellers at our hotel for a welcome drink. Day 2. Darwin “BD Get acquainted with this historic city on an orientation tour, beginning in the picturesque George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, offering a vast array of exotic wildlife, from tropical orchids to baobab and boab trees, gingers and vibrant heliconias. Discover the cycad garden, a unique plant that dates back to pre-Jurassic times, or uncover the waterfall set amidst the lush and entwining rainforest. We'll continue to the Museum & Art Gallery of Northern Territory, exhibiting old and new art pieces, a maritime gallery and don’t miss their resident saltwater crocodile, Sweetheart, believed to have been over 50 years old when he passed. On our drive today we'll also pass by Darwin's scenic waterfront area, home to the Royal Flying Doctor Service facility, the WWIIoil storage tunnels and the Courthouse. Our afternoon is at leisure to further explore these sights, or head back to the hotel for a relax by the pool. Tonight we'll enjoy a group welcome dinner. Day 3. Darwin - Kakadu BL! The expansive and rugged Kakadu National Park is our destination today. Home to the oldest civilisation and breathtaking natural beauty, we'll immerse ourselves in the cultural history overflowing in this region. te Together with an Aboriginal guide, we'll cruise the East Alligator River, gaining a unique insight into the river's cultural significance, abundant food chain, and bush survival skills. We'll also disembark on the Arnhem Land side of the river for a hunting demonstration. Later, we'll marvel at the ancient Aboriginal Rock Art in Ubirr, one of Kakadu’s most significant sites, depicting fascinating stories and illustrating vital food animals. We'll hike to nearby Nadab Lookout, taking in the incredible sunset vistas over Arnhem Land. Day 4. Kakadu “BL We'll gain an understanding of Aboriginal life through the years as we explore the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) region today. Take the trails and uncover the World Heritage- listed Rock Art of the Anbangbang gallery and shelter, portraying various painting styles and imagery from European sailing ships to Namarrkon, the famous ‘lightning man’. As. we continue through the Nanguluwurr art site, keep your eyes out for the elusive ‘barrk’, or black wallaroo. Reaching the Nawurlandja Lookout, we'll be presented with panoramic views over the Arnhem Land escarpment, Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) rock and the Anbangbang Billabong. Our afternoon takes us on a 4WD journey to the little-known gem, Maguk Gorge. Following the track through the monsoon rainforest, our trail ends at the spectacular waterfall, cascading down to form an ideal swimming pool. Surrounded by rocky terrain and the endemic Anbinik trees, we can relax and refresh in the cool waters. Day 5. Kakadu BL Two of the most scenic icons of Kakadu are on our sightseeing list today, both recognised as sites of significant spiritual locations for the local Aboriginals. We begin with a hike through the beautiful wilderness to witness the towering Barrkmarlam (Jim Jim) Falls. Flowing over the great, rocky escarpments the falls meet the tranquil water below, offering an incredible sight to behold. Hop aboard a boat shuttle as we coast to Gungkurdal (Twin Falls) Creek, through the dramatic landscape teeming with wildlife, from long-necked turtles, black bream and barramundi to freshwater crocodiles, Mertens’ water monitor and the elusive pig-nosed turtle (warradjan). Negotiate the boulders and stroll over the floating boardwalk, our efforts will be rewarded with a white, sandy beach outlining the crystal-clear waters from Gungkurdal (Twin Falls). A special evening awaits, as we cruise Ngurrungurrudjba (Yellow Water) Billabong. As the sun slowly sets, we can sit back and take in the abundance of birdlife that frequent the wetlands. Be on the look out for the saltwater crocodile and possibly a buffalo or two, who call this region home. Day 6. Kakadu - Katherine BD We bid farewell to Kakadu today as we head south to the stunning region of Katherine — home to the majestic Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge). A steep and rocky bushwalk will be worth the effort once we arrive at the mesmerising Leliyn (Edith Falls). Step amongst the smooth boulders, dotted between the water pools; the perfect spot for arejuvenating swim. Later we'll enjoy a well- earned, relaxing evening at leisure. Day 7. Katherine “B Make sure your camera batteries are charged up for today, as we give our legs a rest for this tranquil, special experience! We Ctuise the breathtaking three gorges of Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge), as we learn from expert guides the history and meaning behind the ancient Aboriginal Rock Art, dating back 8-10 thousand years. Take the opportunity to swim, an experience we will never forget! We have an exciting and interactive afternoon ahead as we witness Tom Curtain’s fantastic Katherine Outback Experience. Watch in awe as Tom and his team attempt to train and ride young, sometimes wild horses, along with providing an insight into how they condition their working dogs to muster sheep and cattle. We'll end our day with some live Australian country music, with a performance from two-time Golden Guitar winner and our new favourite horseman, Tom Curtain. “October's tour departure will feature a shorter, two gorges cruise of Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge), followed by a guided tour of the Cutta Cutta Caves system. Day 8. Katherine - Litchfield National * BLD Park - Batchelor This morning we make our way to Litchfield National Park, where our touring over the next two days includes visits to a number of stunning waters, surrounded by monsoonal rainforest. After lunch we'll venture inside the park, beginning with a short walk to the pristine Wangi Falls. We'll also discover the truly unique Magnetic Termite Mounds that have to be seen to be believed, some of which reach up to a staggering 4 metres tall! Day 9. Batchelor - Litchfield National Park - Darwin More natural wonders await us today in Litchfield National Park, as we combine an interpretive guided walk, some of the best photo spots on earth and a refreshing dip in one of the natural plunge pools. hy Enjoy a short hike to the towering Tolmer Falls, before continuing to view the pristine waters of the iconic Karrimurra (Florence Falls). As we farewell Litchfield, we make our way back to Darwin. Tonight, we'll meet for a delicious, farewell dinner, stopping en route at the East Point Lookout for a wonderful view as the sun sets. Day 10.
