Australia Post is a postal business controlled by the Australian government to provide Postal Services within Australia. With its headquarters situated in Bourke Street, Victoria, Melbourne, Australia Post controls all of the Postal services in the country. The postal service has 4330 outlets, which carried out operations as digital services, retail express post, logistics, and printing services. The business also boasts about 35,000 workers as of the year 2020. Ever since its inception, it has evolved and integrated delivery service, which has helped it improve its efficiency and effectiveness. The Australian post has also grown and evolved to become a corporation, adopting and taking its postal functions.
Before the inception of the colonial mail control in 1809, mail was transferred through ad-hoc arrangement, which was between transporters, settlers, and storekeepers. These arrangements were unreliable, inflexible, and unstable. As a result, it became common for immigrants to travel a long distance to give their neighbors mail through the distribution points. The postal service organization within Australia started in 1809 when the first postmaster was appointed in Sydney. The first postmaster was Isaac Nichols, a postman operating from me is home in George Street Sydney. His job was to care for letters and parcels that arrived through a ship as they docked at Sydney's wharves. Isaac Nicole operated by picking a mail pasting the list of its recipients in front of his home. He also ran an advertisement at Sydney's Gazette for those who were the mail's recipient. Later on, he charged 1 shilling for each letter collected and charged the price of the parcel depending on its weight. He also personally delivered VIP addresses himself. As time went on, more postmen were appointed across different locations. By 2019, delivery parcels were increasing, and we could transfer thousands of workers from parcels to letters. By 2021, the Australian post began to use three electric cars in Melbourne to disseminate letters faster.
