Tonight we enjoy a group welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Day 4. Bologna - Venice Today we tour the city of Bologna and its historic centre, which is the second largest in Europe. We'll also get to visit the Gelato Museum this afternoon before travelling to the ever-enchanting canal city of Venice. Day 5. Venice “B Aplace like no other, a day exploring Venice will leave lasting memories. Today's highlights include Piazza San Marco, the Basilica, the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. Day 6. Venice - Verona - Milan Today we travel through the Italian countryside to Milan, via the fair city of Verona, made famous by Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Fe Visit a famous wine cellar in Franciacorta for a tasting, accompanied by some local cheeses and smaligoods. Day 7. Lake Como Excursion “B Today's excursion takes us to the idyllic Italian Lake District at stunning Lake Como. We'll take a scenic cruise to admire the palatial villas and hotels and enjoy some free time in beautiful Bellagio Day 8.Milan “B Discover the glamorous city of Milan today on a sightseeing tour. We'll admire the intricate Duomo, Sforzesco Castle and visit the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery. The afternoon is free for you to explore at leisure. Day 9. Milan - Langhe Region “BD This morning we depart for Turin. Ona city tour, we'll see the Royal Palace and the Renaissance Duomo. This afternoon we'll continue to the scenic Langhe region. Day 10. Langhe Region “BD fe Take to the woods in search of the Langhe region's famous truffles with a trifulau (truffle hunter) and their trained canine. Afterwards we'll visit a local farm to taste some of the regional produce and wine. We then visit Castello di Serralunga d'Alba. Surrounded by gorgeous vineyards, it is said to be one of the best conserved examples of 14th century castles in Piedmont. “~B “B Day 11. Langhe Region - La Spezia Today we depart for La Spezia, gateway to the stunning Cinque Terre. We'll stop along the way to enjoy free time to explore the port %B city of Genoa, known for its twisting maze of narrow streets. Arriving in La Spezia in the afternoon we'll enjoy a short orientation tour of the town. Day 12. Cinque Terre Excursion We spend a full day exploring Italy's most photographed coastline, discovering some of the colourful villages that make up the Cinque Terre. Clinging to steep terraces, the villages and ancient vineyards are linked by paths, trains and boats and cannot be accessed by car, making this a truly unique area Day 13. La Spezia - Pisa - Florence *B We travel to Pisa, home of the famous Leaning Tower. Here we'll also see the Baptistery and Duomo of St John. This afternoon we continue through the beautiful Tuscan countryside to Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Day 14. Florence Our tour this morning commences at the grand Piazza del Duomo, where we see the Cathedral, Giotto's Bell Tower, and the Baptistery. We'll also admire Michelangelo's sculptural masterpiece, the statue of David, at the famous Galleria dell'‘Accademia. Day 15. Tuscany Excursion “BD Today we explore the rolling hills of Tuscany, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage-listed towns of Siena and San Gimignano. In Siena we'll explore the medieval town square and see the Basilica of San Domenico. Continuing ‘on to San Gimignano, we'll then sit atop a hill to admire the incredible Tuscan horizon. A tour to Italy is never complete without learning more about the local cuisine. We'll learn the art of pasta making and enjoy our creations over dinner. Day 16. Florence - Rome Sit back and enjoy the countryside as we travel to the Eternal City of Rome, via the beautiful town of Assisi where we'll enjoy a walking tour and visit St Francis Basilica. Day 17. Rome “B Discover majestic Vatican City this morning We'll visit the amazing Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica - all containing works of art and sculptures by Michelangelo. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore at your own pace. Day 18. Rome ~B This morning we will explore Imperial Rome. Highlights include the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, the Capitol and the Colosseum, where gladiatorial contests and games were held along with mock sea battles and executions. The afternoon is at leisure for you to explore the city at your own pace. Day 19.Rome-Pompeii- Sorrento %B We travel to the stunning Bay of Naples and the town of Sorrento via the ancient city of Pompeii today. Buried under ash for centuries after the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79AD, BL “~B “B it is one of the best-preserved examples of Roman civilisation. %& Visit a local teatro for a performance of the ‘Sorrento Musical’, a vibrant musical depicting life on the Sorrentine Peninsula centuries ago. Day 20. Sorrento - Isle of Capri- Sorrento After breakfast, we take a ferry to the island of Capri. Beguiling Capri is known for its rugged landscape, café culture and brilliant bougainvillea. We'll tour the hilltop town of Anacapri and have some time at leisure before returning to Sorrento in the late afternoon. Day 21. Sorrento - Amalfi Coast - Sorrento We'll travel along the famous Amalfi Coast and through the stunning towns of Ravello and Amalfi today, making several photo stops along the way. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Sorrento. Day 22. Sorrento - Rome ~BD After breakfast we return to Rome.
