Barcelona - Valencia We head south to the friendly coastal town of Valencia, the birthplace of paella. Our sightseeing this afternoon will take us to the Cathedral, Puerta del Real, Puerta dela Trinidad and Puerta de Serranos. The evening is for you to explore at your leisure. Day 6. Valencia - Madrid Sit back and enjoy the countryside as we travel to the capital of Spain, Madrid, a wonderfully rich and lively city. Along the way we'll stop in the historic walled city of Cuenca. Day 7. Madrid “B Overflowing with palaces, museums and grand squares, Madrid is a truly majestic city. Our city tour today includes the famous avenues of Gran Via and Castellana, and famous squares such as Plaza de Espafia. We'll also see Oeste and Retiro Parks, Madrid's bullring and the Santiago Bernabeu soccer stadium. Day 8. Madrid - Salamanca “B We travel to Salamanca via the walled city of Avila, birthplace of Santa Teresa de Jesus and home to the 16km-long Roman Aqueduct of Segovia, built by the Romans to carry water from the mountains to the city. Day 9. Salamanca - Porto Salamanca is an ancient city famous for being built mostly from golden Villamayor stone. Today we'll see Casa de las Conchas, the Roman Bridge and the Plaza Mayor. Next, we cross the border into Portugal and the coastal town of Porto. Day 10. Porto “B Today we enjoy a city tour of Porto, including the Ribeira Quarter, St Francisco Church and the Stock Exchange. ‘hy Learn how authentic port is made and get to taste it at one of the many producers in Porto. Next, we take a scenic cruise along the Douro River. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. Day 11. Porto - Coimbra We continue south, stopping in beautiful Aveiro, the ‘Portuguese Venice’. We'll enjoy a tour and have some free time before departing for Coimbra. Here we'll see the university and the breathtaking Coimbra Library, a masterpiece of gilt woodwork. Day 12. Coimbra - Lisbon This morning we visit the medieval fortress village of Obidos still surrounded by high walls which date back to the 12th century. We continue to the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of Sintra, situated on %B *%B ¥%B *%B the green slopes of a mountain range before making our way to Lisbon. Day 13. Lisbon Today we discover captivating Lisbon. Our sightseeing tour includes Park Edward VII, Liberty Avenue as well as the district of Belém, where we'll find the Monument to the Discoveries. Our last stop is the beautifully intricate Jeronimus Monastery. Taste the famous Portuguese custard tart at Antiga Confeitaria. No visit to Lisbon would be complete without it! Day 14. Lisbon *B Enjoy a full day at leisure in this charming city, to relax or explore at your own pace. Day 15. Lisbon - Seville Crossing the border back into Spain, we stop to explore historic Evora, a beautifully preserved medieval town. We'll arrive in Seville in the early evening. Day 16. Seville Today's sightseeing tour includes the impressive Plaza de Espajia and the Royal Alcazar, as well as views of the intricate exterior of the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Giralda Bell Tower - the biggest cathedral in Spain. Our sightseeing for the day concludes after exploring the historical Jewish Quarter of Santa Cruz. Day 17. Seville - Granada “BD Sit back and enjoy the scenery as we travel across the countryside to the historic city of Granada with the spectacular backdrop of the Sierra Nevada ranges. Tonight we'll experience a traditional Spanish tapas dinner. Day 18. Granada *B This morning we'll admire the intricate detail of the famous Moorish citadel, Alhambra Palace. Then we wander through the beautifully manicured Generalife Gardens, the 14th century summer gardens of the former kings of Granada. Day 19. Granada - Chefchaouen “BD We make our way by ferry over the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco. We arrive in the port town of Tangier before travelling southeast to Chefchaouen Spend two nights in the magical town of Chefchaouen, one of the prettiest in Morocco, washed in hundreds of shades of blue. Day 20. Chefchaouen @ This morning we'll explore Chefchaouen’s picturesque streets on foot ona city tour. Why not join your guide ona hike to the Chefchaouen viewing platform and take in the incredible panoramic views? Day 21. Chefchaouen - Fez 4B Travelling to Fez, we visit the impressive ruins of Volubilis, dating back to the 3rd century BC. Fez S2BL Today we'll explore the narrow, cobbled lanes and covered souks of the famous medina, see the Kairaouine Mosque and watch an ancient tannery in operation. Marrakesh BLD Marrakesh is the real heartbeat of Morocco and today we visit the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque and the famous medina. he We experience the atmosphere of Marrakesh’s main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa, as we pass through a wondrous mix of food, music and entertainment, getting a taste of this fantastic city. We'll take a cooking lesson in a beautiful Moroccan riad, then enjoy the food we've prepared for lunch. Day 25. Marrakesh - Casablanca “BD This morning we make our way to Casablanca Here we see the central market, Hassan II Mosque and Ain Diab Esplanade. Tonight we enjoy a group farewell dinner. Day 26.
