Glossary Clarifying the intricacies of a journey to Japan and South Korea with APT. Adaptors & Electricity Electricity is 1OV throughout Japan and 220V in South Korea. A plug adaptor is necessary if you plan to bring items from home. Allergies If you have a food allergy or another condition that needs to be managed on tour, please advise your booking agent as soon as possible, as most suppliers require advance notice to accommodate this. In some cases you might be asked to fill out a form or waiver. Audio Guides Each guest will have an audio headset. While touring, these lightweight headsets allow you to hear every word of your guide's commentary. b Bedding Configuration Double beds are on a request basis for hotels in Japan and cannot be guaranteed. Beverages During land journeys, complimentary water and tea are offered during meals. Complimentary alcoholic beverages may also be included with some dinners. c Climate Japan and South Korea's weather varies greatly between seasons — expect hot and humid weather during the summer, and cold winters. with the possibility of snow in some locations. Cherry Blossom season in Japan usually lasts from late March to May and in South Korea from March to mid-April, however due to changeable weather, blooms cannot be guaranteed, nor can the region's colourful autumn leaves. Currency The unit of currency in Japan is the Yen (JPY), and in South Korea it is the Korean Republic Won (KRW). USD is accepted in some parts of larger cities in South Korea, however change will normally be given in KRW. Selected lunches and dinners are also included as indicated on itinerary pages. Dress Code The dress code is relaxed. Comfortable clothing is ideal during the day, and smart casual clothing for evenings. Comfortable footwear is imperative for excursions. If your sightseeing includes places of worship, please ensure your clothes adhere to the dress code. As a general guideline, shoulders and knees should be covered (for both men and women) when entering buildings of a religious nature and family homes. When entering temples, shoes may need to be removed. For this reason, please ensure you bring footwear that can be easily removed. f Freedom of Choice Inclusions Minimum and maximum group numbers may apply on some activities. Due to poor weather and/or venue closures on some dates, some options may not be available. Freedom of Choice sightseeing for Japan and South Korea must be pre-booked prior to departure. Freedom of Choice dining for South Korea must be pre-booked prior to departure. Freedom of Choice dining for Japan is to be booked on tour with your Tour Director. g General Physical Fitness APT's tours are not physically demanding; however, because of the nature of many of the sites you'll be visiting, some tours will require a good level of fitness and health to participate. Some trips may not be appropriate for guests with certain medical conditions and physical restrictions. You should be able to stand on your feet for an extended period of time to visit museums, attractions and other sites, as well as when checking in for flights and at Customs and Immigration. Gratuities Gratuities are included for all drivers, guides and tour directors on APT holidays. Gratuities cannot be redeemed for a cash refund. Luggage Throughout your journey, you will experience some of Japan's modern and efficient Shinkansen bullet trains. Luggage space, however is very limited and for convenience we have included a luggage transfer service, which requires your luggage to get transferred from your accommodation and delivered (usually the next day) to your next accommodation. This will require you to bring a small overnight bag for select days. Your valuables should always be carried along with you and not put in the luggage being transferred. APT
