Working to sustain life Our ships transport over 100,000 tons of consumer goods ayear to and from the Norwegian coast, bringing everything from food to important medicine. Through our service, local businesses are also able to export their goods to people and placesnear and far. As goods are loaded and off- loaded from our shipsat the ports we dock in, you'll see these important interactions first-hand. It isexactly these exchanges which are helping to support the livelihoods of thou- sands who live spread out along on the Norwegian coast. Enhanced by excursions For some local businesses, we're more than just The Coastal Express service; we're also their biggest customer. We cherish the relation- ships we've cultivated with more than 60 excursion providers, each handpicked based on the same high standards we hold ourselves to. You'll find that they are as passionate and committed to sustainable prac- tices as we are, employing green tech and renewable resources wherever possible. The goodwill we've built up with our excursion partners over the years, means that you'll receive awarm welcome. You can look forward to these knowledgeable, local experts showing you their homeland, taking you on added adventures that go along way to supporting their families and community. From fishing to farming Our Coastal Kitchen concept of using fresh, local produce means at least 80% of the food and drink you'll enjoy on board come from over 40 different Norwegian suppliers. Milk, berries, fish, meat, cheese, beer, ice cream, and much more are received by our ships at half of the ports we visit, providing farming and fishing families with important income. The people supporting our ships Every ship needs a crew of cleaners, engineers, chefs, and hundreds of people behind the scenes. Each role represents an important job for families all along the coast. We're proud that 45% of our manager-level employees are women, a figure we're actively increasing. Over the past seven years, our ships have also undergone extensive refurbishment and upgrades at Norwegian shipyards. Around 300 local subcontractors were involved in the makeovers, earning valuable experience and wages in the process. Training tomorrow's Captains Our lifelong commitment to caring for the coast’s communities has meant we've also invested in the individuals within them. We're the biggest provider of maritime apprenticeships in the country with hundreds of young people being trained on our ships.
