PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES experience one of the most favoured Roman pastimes, a gladiator show and chariot race. Drive to Ajloun to visit the fortress of Qal’at ar-Rabad, overlooking the Jordan Valley. DAY 14: AMMAN CITY TOUR Take a city tour through Amman, exploring the Citadel and Roman Amphitheatre, before visiting some of Jordan's Desert Castles on the outskirts where examples of early Islamic art and architecture are on display. A Nai- making workshop, under the tutelage of a local expert, ends this day of exploring. DAY 15: MOUNT NEBO A busy day as you will be visiting Mount Nebo, the site of Moses’ Tomb, Madaba to see the Orthodox Church of St George, and the Madaba Mosaic Map, the oldest surviving depiction of the Holy Land. Travel to Petra where you will stay overnight. DAY 16: PETRA BY DAY & NIGHT Start today visiting Petra’s many caves and tombs. Surrounded by imposing mountains and accessible through a deep, narrow cleft, Petra is a unique and unforgettable place. You have the afternoon to yourself before your evening tour of Petra where you'll see it lit up by candlelight. DAY 17: WADI RUM DESERT Enjoy a short stop at Little Petra before driving to Wadi Rum, the Valley of the Moon. Explore Lawrence's Road, visiting the most spectacular sights and drive among sand dunes to get a sense of what Wadi Rum has to offer. This evening you will stay in a unique desert camp. DAY 18: THE DEAD SEA Travel north along the Jordanian/Israeli border to the Dead Sea - the lowest point on earth. After lunch enjoy some free time to finish off your Jordan experience. DAY 20: TRAVEL TO GALILEE Explore Jaffa, the world’s oldest active harbour before continuing to Caesarea to view the fascinating Roman ruins. Visit the Druze Villages on the slopes of Mount Carmel before a stop at the street bazaars to interact with the local community, then drive to Mukhraga for a view of the Holy Land. Finish the day in Tiberias, on the shores of the famous Sea of Galilee. DAY 21: TIBERIAS Visit Kibbutz Degania B to learn about its development before continuing to Tabgha, the site of the miracle of the Loaves and Fishes. Head to Capernaum to visit the Ancient Synagogue and House of St Peter. DAY 22: THE DEAD SEA Drive through the scenic Jordan Valley, into Palestinian Territory, to Qasr El Yahud the original site of Jesus’ baptism. Continue to Jericho where you will visit Quarental monastery. After lunch drive to the Dead Sea, where floating in the mineral-rich waters is the perfect end to this day. DAY 23: BETHLEHEM Drive to Masada and take a cable car to the top of Masada Fortress, where as well as the wonderful view, you will learn of the last stand by Jewish rebels against the Romans. Drive to Qumran for lunch and a visit to where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. Continue your journey to Bethlehem, in Palestinian Territory, for a one night stay. Enjoy a Palestinian dancing show during dinner this evening.
