Glossary Clarifying the intricacies of a journey to Southeast Asia with APT. Adaptors and Electricity Electricity is 220V on board your river ship and throughout Vietnam and Cambodia. A plug adaptor is necessary if you plan to bring appliances from home. Allergies If you have a food allergy or another condition that needs to be managed on tour, please advise your booking agent as soon as possible, as most suppliers require advance notice to accommodate this. In some cases you might be asked to fill out a form or waiver. Air Conditioning & Heating All suites on board our ship have individual climate control. Audio Guides During excursions, our lightweight headsets allow you to hear every word of your guide's commentary. b Bedding Configuration Most suites on the ship can be configured as either double or twin share. Your preference will be noted at the time of booking. Beverages On Board On your cruise, coffee and tea are available free of charge throughout the day and during meals. On board the Mekong Serenity in Vietnam and Cambodia, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available all day. Clean drinking water is also provided all day, so a reusable water bottle is highly recommended. French Champagne, premium spirits and selected wines are offered at an additional cost. On board The Au Co on Ha Long Bay, house wine, local beer and soft drinks are served with lunch and dinner. Boutique The Mekong Serenity has an onboard boutique offering limited accessories and souvenirs, as well as a small selection of personal and toiletry items. Butler Service Aboard the Mekong Serenity, the following services are available to guests in select suites: Laundry service is included for guests in Cat. E, D, C, B and A. Two garments will be laundered per day, per suite. Silver Butler Service Guests in Banyon Suites will enjoy Silver Butler Service. Benefits include the laundering or pressing of two garments per suite, per day, shoe shining, a daily fruit platter, the booking of appointments, and one spa treatment per person, per cruise. Gold Butler Service Guests in Angkor Suites will enjoy Gold Butler Service. Benefits include a packing and unpacking service, the laundering or pressing of four garments per suite, per day, shoe shining, a bottle of French champagne, a daily fruit platter and pre- dinner canapés, tea and coffee service, the booking of appointments, and one spa treatment per person, per cruise. Butler Service is not available on board the The Au Co. c Climate Cambodia and Southern Vietnam are always hot and humid. Temperatures and humidity are lower from around November to February, with humidity at its peak from May to August. Northern Vietnam is more seasonal than the south's tropical climate, with a cooler winter season from December to February, and temperatures ranging from 12-18 degrees Celsius. The temperatures will drop even lower during the night. Those travelling to Sapa in northern Vietnam over the winter months can experience even cooler temperatures. Currency Vietnam's official currency is Dong (VND) and is accepted throughout. However, US Dollars are usually accepted at markets and some restaurants.
