16 days MS Fram Departure: 29 March 2024 CULTURES OF SOUTH AMERICA - PACIFIC COAST EXPEDITION Explore four Latin American countries from Chile to Panama, uncovering ancient pyramids, beautiful national reserves and delicious local foods. Chilean cities and Peruvian pyramids From UNESCO-listed Valparaiso, we'll journey to architecturally pretty La Serena, then to the sun-soaked desert towns of Iquique and Arica. Next, it's Paracas, where you can visit the biodiverse Ballestas Islands before trying the sumptuous cuisine in Lima, the capital of Peru. Then, we plan to visit Salaverry to tour Trujillo and the pre-Columbian ruins around the city. Ecuadorian paradises and the Panama Canal We'll stop at the important Ecuadorian port of Puerto Bolivar to learn about the oro verde - green gold. Then continue northbound to the busy and prosperous port town of Manta, cross the line of the Equator, experience vibrant Afro-Colombian culture in Bahia Solano, and sail to the isthmus of Panama. Crossing from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea, on the Atlantic side of the Canal, will be the finishing stretch of your adventure. In true expedition style we'll adapt to local sea and weather conditions when- ever we need to, and during days at sea you'll be able to take advantage of the ship's excellent learning, leisure and dining facilities.
