Mark the edge of the back, 100mm down from the top, to position the plate, checking the hook fits smoothly before securing. Add the cushions (see top left). \ i | | ats E a 7 HANGING SHELF Create a moveable display that sports boho tassels @ Cut an offcut of 18mm hevea finger-jointed panel to 450mm x 300mm. Use a 10mm bit to drill holes 30mm in from the corners, sand and wipe away dust. Apply two coats of oil, leaving to dry after each. @ Cut 8mm cotton sash cord into two 3m lengths, wrapping tape around the ends to prevent fraying. Tie loop knots halfway along, then thread the ends through the front holes, knotting to leave 200mm excess. @ Thread 100mm x 30mm x 5mm S-hooks through the loop knots and enlist an extra pair of hands to hang the shelf. Thread the ends through the back holes, position the shelf straight using a small level, and mark the back ropes underneath with a pen. @ Take the shelf down to tie knots at the marks. Trim all the ends to the same length and fray to create tassels. Re-hang the shelf and use it to show off your favourite things!
